Bob Sastry was called to the bar in 1996 and completed his pupillage at Queen Elizabeth Buildings in London. He moved to Manchester in 1998 where his predominantly criminal practice has steadily grown in strength . He regularly prosecutes and defends high-level criminal cases. In addition to providing high quality advocacy Bob uses the latest information technology and internet resources in order to assist instructing solicitors to remain as up-to-date as possible and to ease the burden of case progression. Bob is a Grade 3 prosecutor In addition to his busy criminal practice Bob undertakes prison law cases and also teaches advocacy to students on the Bar Professional Training Course at the Manchester Metropolitan University.

(i) R v Widdop and others [2010] Defence counsel in a 22-handed conspiracy to commit violent disorder.

(iii) R v Kapacee [2010] Defence counsel for a black cab driver accused of sexually assaulting a customer who was a doctor.

(v) R v Zerihun and others [2009] Privately instructed to advise defence witnesses in relation to anonymity orders in a gangland murder case.
(vi) R v Southern and others [2009] Instructed as junior counsel in large scale fraudulent evasion of duty.
(vii) R v Marques and Simpson [2007] Prosecution counsel in a gang-related arson.
(viii) R v Miller [2006] Defence counsel in a section 18 trial where the accused was alleged to have stabbed the complainant in gangland retribution.
(ix) R v Mansoor and others [2003] Junior counsel in large scale passport fraud operation.
Reported cases:
(i) Attorney-General’s reference No 64 of 2003; Regina v Harrison [2004] 2 Cr App R (S) 22 - Successful appeal against custodial sentence on behalf of John Harrison. The case became the guideline case on DTTOs prior to the CJA 2003 coming into force.
