TYPE OF PRACTICE

Over the past 20 years practice has been a personal injury and clinical negligence.

Only undertakes multi track litigation and the majority of his work involves either claims valued in excess of £100,000 or smaller claims with a particularly interesting point of law.

Regularly draft Schedules and Counter Schedules in high value litigation. John's practice includes all types of litigation including employers' liability, road traffic accidents, local authority accidents and disease work. He regularly advises on the use of experts in relation to both liability and quantum. Regularly holds conferences with experts.

Also involved at the CMC stage as regularly advises solicitors on the best way to proceed in high value litigation.

PARTICULARS OF SPECIALIST INTEREST

John has a specialist interest in fibromyalgia and/or chronic pain syndrome.

Also has a particular interest in stress claims and has undertaken a number of contested occupational stress cases, for both Claimants and Defendants including:-

- 2 week stress claim against a local authority.
- 1 week stress and harassment claim by a social worker against her local authority.
- 4 week occupational stress claim by a lecturer against his teacher training college.

LEVEL OF WORK

John has lengthy experience in dealing with maximum severity cases including catastrophic brain damage claims, paraplegic claims and major disease litigation and fatal accident claims. He has been instructed in approximately 25 cases per annum with a value in excess of £1m. Recent settlements include one for £5.7m
