Magdalen has a particular interest in public law children's cases. She represents Local Authorities, parents, extended family members and children (whether directly or by their Guardians) in the public law arena. She has experience of representing people with learning difficulties and mental health difficulties, both directly and through the Official Solicitor. She deals with cases including complex medical evidence, child death, and allegations of serious sexual and physical abuse.
Magdalen appears frequently in the High Court as well as the County Court and has appeared in the Court of Appeal.
She was Junior Counsel for the Appellant in the Supreme Court case of Re S-B.
In the private law arena her experience covers the full range of Children Act applications from protracted contact cases and cases where sexual abuse or domestic violence allegations are made to applications to permanently remove children from the jurisdiction.
Magdalen deals with a broad range of ancillary relief matters. Her experience covers appeals, applications to set aside consent orders, section 37 applications, Mareva applications in the High Court and Schedule One Children Act applications. She also has extensive experience in Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustee Act applications.
Magdalen has also dealt with a number of PII applications on behalf of Local Authorities in the Crown Court.
