In addition to the cases below I am experienced in defending serious sex cases including child rape historic and recent with single or multiple complainants. I have appeared at Parole Board hearings on behalf of prisoners seeking release on parole. I have undertaken training to qualify for the acceptance of direct access instructions.

Cases of Note

Regina v John Fletcher, multi-million pound mortgage fraud, led by John Jones QC for the lead Defendant.

Regina v Anthony O’Neill, violent disorder, instructed for the Defendant who is known as “the General” for his activities as a follower of MUFC as described in his published autobiography.

Regina v Peter Vernon, murder with a provocation defence, led by John Jones QC for the Defendant.

Regina v Albert Williams, attempted murder of a Police Community Support Officer, led by Roderick Carus QC for the Defendant.

Regina v Hatam Abbas & Others, fraud, instructed as leading junior for the defence.

Regina v David Griffiths, manslaughter with legal and evidential com-plexities, led by Andrew O’Byrne QC for the Defendant (successful submission of no case to answer).

Regina v Michael Williams, murder, led by Andrew O’Byrne QC for the Defendant, successfully negotiated a plea to manslaughter.

Work-related interests

I am a trained advocacy trainer. For several years I have assisted in the advocacy training on circuit for pupils and new practitioners and will be doing so again in November and December of this year.

In September 2010 I travelled to Tanzania with the Bar Human Rights Committee/International Lawyers Project to teach criminal procedure and advocacy to post-graduates.

I have provided CPD accredited lectures to solicitors on criminal pro-cedure, sentencing and the proceeds of crime.
