Nature of Practice
Simon practices all areas of child and adult protection including care proceedings, Court of Protection and declaratory relief proceedings, Inquests and Judicial Review relating to the Children Act 1989 and allied regulations and legislation.
He has also been involved in a number of complex and high profile public Inquiries including the Everall Inquiry (a public inquiry into the deaths of two young people whilst in care and the Patterson Inquiry (Inquiry into the Death of a Child by her mentally ill mother)
Latterly, he was instructed by the Greater Manchester authorities in the prosecutions following Operation Cleopatra (an investigation in to historic sexual abuse of children in care homes throughout Greater Manchester).
He has most recently been involved in cases involving international child trafficking, terrorism and inter gang rivalry.
Finally, he also maintains a keen interest in ancillary relief cases in complex and high net worth cases.
