
Prior to being called to the Bar in 2001 Siraj Ahmed was an associate partner in the civil litigation department of a well-established North West law firm, specialising in Personal Injury and General Civil Litigation.
In addition to his civil litigation and personal injury work, Mr Ahmed has considerable experience in asylum/immigration and human rights litigation.
Mr Ahmed is regularly instructed on both Public law and Private law matters. In respect of Public law (children) work, he has represented local authorities, children and parents/grandparents in relation to Care Orders, Supervision Orders, and Adoption proceedings. As to the latter, Mr Ahmed’s knowledge and experience of Immigration law, has proved a valuable asset in advising on matters of international adoption
Thanks to his language skills (being fluent in Gujarati , Hindi, and Urdu) is able to converse with many clients in their native tongue.

Ancillary relief forms an important and integral part of Mr Ahmed’s family law work. Acting for applicants, respondents or third parties, and intervenors, Mr Ahmed is instructed at all stages, from initial Advice to final hearings (both in the County and High Court) and cases of varying complexity, to include assets held overseas. Freezing Injunctions and search orders also form part of the remit. His skill and experienced as a mediator prove useful when negotiating settlements.
In private law Mr Ahmed represents parties on al aspects, from separation/divorce to all associated matters, including ancillary relief and Trust of Land claims, as well as (where children are involved) applications for Residence, Contact orders and other related Orders.
Mr Ahmed, both in relation to family disputes and general civil land disputes, is instructed on disputes governed by TLATA and connected legislation, acting for trustees, beneficiaries, occupiers, purchasers and other parties.
Mr Ahmed’s workload comprises all types of personal injury work , ranging from road traffic accident claims, employer liability, public liability, and occupiers’ liability to clinical negligence and industrial disease, in both fast-track and multi-track, and in the County Courts, High Courts, and Court of Appeal.
In addition to his civil litigation and personal injury work, Mr Ahmed has considerable experience in asylum/immigration and human rights litigation. He is a regular visitor both before the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal , and the Tribunals in London. As well as the lower Courts, cases are often taken to the High Court on Judicial Review and on appeal to the Court of Appeal, as well as the European Court of Human Rights.
