
72 members, staff and friends of St Johns Buildings successfully competed in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday the 17th of May.
Raising money for the Genesis Breast Cancer Appeal, the SJB team then enjoyed celebratory drinks in Chambers and compared times. So far almost £4000 has been raised for the appeal and donations can still be made at www.justgiving.com/stjohnsbuildings
St Johns Buildings are delighted to welcome Christopher Moss as a new member of Chambers. Christopher, who joins Chambers from 1 Stanley Place Chambers in Chester, has a broad range of experience in civil litigation, local authority and police work and also regularly appears in the County and High Courts for local authorities in housing, ASBO and benefit fraud cases. He acts for both private and public landlords and tenants including numerous housing trusts in various property disputes. Christopher also undertakes property litigation and has wide experience of boundary disputes. Although primarily based in Chester, Christopher will be practising throughout the North West and Wales.

Chambers are delighted to announce that Jeffrey Samuels, the joint head of the SJB Criminal team, was successful in the 2008/2009 Queen's Counsel Competition and was today announced as one of the 104 appointments as Queen's Counsel.
The new QC's announced today will formally become "Silks" when they make their declaration before the Lord Chancellor at the ceremony on Monday 30th March 2009.

Darryl Barnes, the burglar who caused £90,000 of damage at a sub-station, blacking out 1590 homes in Blackburn and seriously injuring a Policeman in the process, was jailed for 5 years on the 21st of January 2009.

Following the dissolution of Peel Court Chambers, preliminary agreement to join St John's Buildings has been reached with 25 members of Peel Court (including 5 silks).
Chambers are very pleased to announce that Shell Edmonds will be joining our criminal clerking team on the 1st of December 2008. Shell, who has more than 20 years of experience of clerking, is joining from Peel Court Chambers, where he was the joint senior clerk. He will be joining a team of 6 criminal clerks, led by the senior clerk Sean Hulston. We wish Shell all the best in his move to Chambers.
We are delighted to confirm that, on the 1st of December, 25 new members joined St John's Buildings. The 5 silks and 20 junior barristers are all joining the SJB criminal team and bring with them a wealth of experience. The criminal team now numbers 74 counsel, with leading practitioners in every area of criminal law and at all levels of experience.
