William Dowling, who was likened by Mark Lamberty (St Johns Buildings Criminal Barrister) to Hamlet for attempting to poison his wife with mercury, has pleaded guilty. The pensioner, who admitted unlawfully administering mercury with the intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy, will be sentenced next month.
