Mohammed Patel was today jailed for four and a half years for staging bogus road accidents in a £1.6 million insurance fraud.
Mr Patel arranged "car accidents" on at least 93 separate occasions. He made around £46,000 for his role in the fraudulent claims, which cost insurance companies approximately £1.6 million and which was part of a wider fraud that costs the motor insurance industry approximately £350 million per year.
